Call to Worship
He is Lord! He is Lord!
He is risen from the dead and He is Lord!
Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord.
All thanks and praise to You,
Lord Jesus, King of all;
Your Name is above all others
Jesus, King and Lord of all,
we worship and adore You.
King of righteousness, King of peace,
enthroned at the right hand of Majesty on high
Jesus, King and Lord of all,
we worship and adore You.
Great High Priest, living forever to intercede for us:
Jesus, King and Lord of all,
we worship and adore You.
Pioneer of our Salvation, You bring us to glory
through death and resurrection
Jesus, King and Lord of all,
we worship and adore You.
Every knee bows to You; every tongue confesses,
“You are King of kings and Lord of lords,”
to the glory of God the Father
He is Lord! He is Lord!
He is risen from the dead
and He is Lord. Every knee shall bow,
every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Congregational Hymn - UMH 73
O Worship the King
O worship the King, all glorious above
O gratefully sing, God’s power and His love;
Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days
Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise
The earth with its store of wonders untold,
Almighty, Your power has founded of old;
has ‘stablished it fast by a changeless decree,
and found it has cast, like a mantle the sea.
Your bountiful care what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air; it shines in the light;
It streams from the hills; it descends to the plains,
And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.
Affirmation of Faith - UMH 882
The Apostle’s Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son,
our Lord, who was:
Conceived by the Holy Spirit;
born of the Virgin Mary;
Suffered under Pontius Pilate;
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day, He rose again;
He ascended to heaven,
sits at the right hand of God the Father,
and will come again
to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the Communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Prayers of the People
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
holy is Your Name; Your Kingdom come;
Your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread and
forgive us our sins as we forgive
those who sin against us.
Lead us away from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil
for the Kingdom, the power,
and the glory are Yours, now and forever.
Amen!

We Bow Down (by Twila Paris)
You are Lord of Creation and Lord of my life
Lord of the land and the sea.
You were Lord of the heavens before there was time
And Lord of all Lord you will be.
We bow down and we worship You, Lord
We bow down and we worship You, Lord
We bow down and we worship You, Lord
Lord of all lords You will be.
You are King of Creation and King of my life
King of the land and the sea.
You were King of the heavens before there was time
And King of all kings you will be.
We bow down and we crown You the King
We bow down and we crown You the King
We bow down and we crown You the King
King of all kings You will be.
A Reading from the Psalter
Psalm 111
Hallelujah! I give thanks to God with everything I’ve got – wherever good people gather, and in the congregation. God’s works are so great, worth a lifetime of study – endless enjoyment! Splendor and beauty mark His craft; His generosity never gives out. His miracles are His memorial – This God of grace, this God of love. He gave food to those who fear Him; He remembered to keep His ancient promise. He proved to His people that He could do what He said: Hand them the nations on a platter – a gift! He manufactures truth and justice; all His products are guaranteed to last – never out of date, never obsolete, rust-proof. All that He makes and does is honest and true: He paid the ransom for His people; He ordered His covenant kept forever. He’s so personal and holy, worthy of our respect. The good life begins in the fear of God – Do that and you’ll know the blessing of God. His hallelujah lasts forever!
Congregational Response - UMH 71
The Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, amen. Amen!
A Reading from the Gospel
Mark 1:21 – 28
They arrived at Capernaum, and on the Sabbath day Jesus walked straight into the synagogue and began teaching. They were amazed at his way of teaching, for he taught with the ring of authority – quite unlike the scribes. All at once, a man in the grip of an evil spirit appeared in the synagogue shouting out, “What have you got to do with us, Jesus from Nazareth? Have you come to kill us? I know who you are – you’re God’s holy one!”
25 But Jesus cut him short and spoke sharply, “Hold your tongue and get out of him!” 26-27 At this the evil spirit convulsed the man, let out a loud scream and left him. Everyone present was so astounded that people kept saying to each other, “What on earth has happened? This new teaching has authority behind it. Why he even gives his orders to evil spirits and they obey him!” 28 And his reputation spread like wild-fire through the whole Galilean district.

Hymn of Praise
Lord, I need You (by Chris Tomlin)
Lord, I come; I confess:
bowing here, I find my rest.
Without You, I fall apart.
You’re the One that guides my heart.
Lord, I need You; Oh I need You,
every hour I need You, my one defense,
my righteousness; O God, how I need You.
Where sin runs deep, Your grace is more.
Where grace is found is where You are.
And where You are, Lord, I am free.
Holiness is Christ in me.
Lord, I need You; Oh I need You,
every hour I need You, my one defense,
my righteousness; O God, how I need You.
So, teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way.
And when I cannot stand, I’ll fall on You
Jesus, You’re my hope and stay.
Lord, I need You; Oh I need You,
every hour I need You, my one defense,
my righteousness; O God, how I need You.

When Jesus the Healer Passed Through
When Jesus the Healer passed through Galilee,
Heal us, heal us today,
The deaf came to hear and the blind came to see.
Heal us, Lord Jesus.
The lepers were healed and the demons cast out,
Heal us, heal us today,
A bent woman straightened to laugh and to shout.
Heal us, Lord Jesus!
There’s still so much sickness and suffering today
Heal us, heal us today,
We gather together for healing and pray:
Heal us, Lord Jesus!
Benediction
Beloved, Jesus the Christ, King of kings and Lord of lords, sends us out into our homes, our neighborhood, and our community to proclaim and expand His Lordship over all the earth. With this as your commission, go in God’s peace and serve wherever He places you. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen!
